Postural Dysfunction

You may have heard the phrase, “We’ll treat the cause, not just the symptoms”, thrown around in many Allied Health marketing campaigns. Fortunately, this is the best way to fully rehabilitate injuries – and at Caboolture physical Therapy Centre, it’s standard practice.

The role of assessing and treating Postural Dysfunction is a great example of how an injury has an underlying cause. Postural Dysfunction may be defined as a collection of symptoms caused by lifestyle demands. For instance, an admin job where you’re sitting all day at a computer may cause neck or back pain from a poor sitting position. Or a line worker who stands and reaches all day may develop shoulder pain because of poor postural strength.

During your initial assessment at Caboolture Physical Therapy, we’ll ask you questions to assess your lifestyle demands, which may be affecting or causing the problem. We will assess, diagnose the issue and observe your habitual and adopted postures. This will: enable us to build an accurate picture of the contributing factors; help us develop a home management program, and; begin appropriate treatment to fast-track a resolution.
