Hydro Therapy in Caboolture

Hydro therapy at Caboolture Physical Therapy Centre is physiotherapy in a pool environment, prescribed and monitored by a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist.

We use the properties of the water and a variety of treatment approaches, including manual therapy and exercise, to address a wide range of conditions and therapeutic goals. The buoyancy in the pool can be used to assist or resist movement, which is not possible out of the water, and the pool we use is heated to about 32 degrees to help warm up your muscles and facilitate your body’s movement. Every program starts with an initial in-clinic assessment at 4 Annie Street, Caboolture.

What Hydro Therapy at Caboolture Physical Therapy Centre Involves

Your physiotherapist or exercise physiologist prescribes and monitors a program of specific exercises or techniques to be performed in the pool. Hydrotherapy can increase muscle tone, range of motion and cardiovascular fitness, and a session may involve equipment such as pool noodles and weights. Pool sessions run as a group class led by a physiotherapist and/or exercise physiologist at the Caboolture Pool and Fitness Centre, and an initial in-clinic assessment is required before you attend the pool.

We run hydro therapy for people across the Caboolture district, and there is a page for each of the areas we serve: Beachmere, Bellmere, Burpengary, Caboolture South, Elimbah, Moodlu, Moorina, Morayfield, Narangba, Rocksberg, Upper Caboolture and Wamuran.

Who Hydro Therapy in Caboolture Is For

Our whole team of physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, massage therapists, dieticians and counsellors work together to create the best treatment plan tailored to your goals, and hydrotherapy is one of the options they draw on. Our exercise physiologists list it alongside one-on-one sessions, group exercise programs, clinical Pilates and clinical gym sessions, and use exercise as medicine for rehabilitation after injury or surgery, chronic pain management and the management and prevention of chronic conditions. Caboolture Physical Therapy Centre has been established for over 35 years and our staff have more than 150 years’ experience between them. Sessions are claimable through eligible health funds; we are not a bulk billing practice, and the Medicare, DVA, NDIS, My Aged Care, WorkCover and private payment pathways are set out on our Funding Options page.

Frequently Asked Questions about Hydro Therapy in Caboolture

Frequently Asked Questions about Services in Caboolture

Do I need a referral to start hydro therapy in Caboolture?

As a private patient you do not need a referral, but we welcome referrals from doctors, specialists and employers. A referral is needed for DVA, WorkCover Queensland and some self-insured workers’ compensation schemes, Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plans and motor vehicle accident claims. For NDIS, My Aged Care or other third parties, please contact the clinic to book.

Where does hydro therapy take place?

We use the facilities at Caboolture Pool and Fitness Centre. An initial in-clinic assessment at 4 Annie Street is required before attending the pool, and if you have been referred to aquatic physiotherapy by one of our therapists, please see staff at the front desk.

How warm is the pool?

The pool we use is heated to about 32 degrees to help warm up your muscles and facilitate your body’s movement. The buoyancy of the water can then be used to assist or resist movement in ways that are not possible on land.

What do I need to bring to a pool session?

Bathers, a towel and a drink bottle; any reliever medications, such as asthma or angina medications; and if you are diabetic, your glucometer, glucose (jellybeans, for example) and a snack such as a sandwich.

How long will the first appointment take, and can I claim it?

The first visit to the practice will usually take an hour, which includes time to fill in any paperwork before the consult with a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist; follow-up appointments generally take half an hour. Hydro therapy is claimable through eligible health funds. We are not a bulk billing practice; if you are on a GP Enhanced Primary Care plan, your GP can refer you for up to five physiotherapy or exercise physiologist sessions per year, with a $15 gap on physiotherapy appointments under that program, so bring your Medicare card to each session.

Ready to start in the water? Book an initial consultation and we will assess you in the clinic before your first pool session.
