Aquatic Physiotherapy (also hydrotherapy) is the treatment of a wide range of conditions in a pool environment.

We use the properties of the water and a variety of treatment approaches (including manual therapy and exercise) to address therapeutic goals. The buoyancy in the pool can be used to assist or resist movement in a way that’s not possible out of the water.

The pool we use is also heated to about 32 degrees to help warm up your muscles and body, to help facilitate your body’s movement.

In traditional Chinese medicine it is deemed that, in a healthy body, QI (energy) flows via special channels (meridians).

In the unhealthy state, this flow is blocked. But an appropriate insertion of needles can correct this. Acupuncture can be used to treat acute and chronic muscle and joint injuries, back and neck pain, sciatica and sports injuries.

The points are usually stimulated by the insertion of very fine, sterile needles but laser, electro-acupuncture, or acupressure may also be used.

Pilates uses a series of slow, low impact exercises to help improve core stability, flexibility and body awareness. The main focus is developing ‘core’ strength by recruiting our body’s main stabilising and postural muscles. These muscles engage together to form a ‘natural corset’ to support the spine. Developing core stability will help in the rehabilitation of neck, back and many other injuries and can help prevent reoccurrence or further injury. You’ll notice the difference after just a few classes!

As all our Pilates instructors are registered Physiotherapists or Exercise Physiologists, you may be eligible to receive a rebate from your private health fund. To ensure that the class is suited to you, please arrange an assessment with one of our Pilates trained physiotherapists.

Suffering a fall can have a massive impact on your life or the life of a loved one. Most falls result in minor injuries. However, more serious consequences can occur. Falls don’t just affect the physical body – they can also affect the mental state of mind. A fall can result in a prolonged fear of falling, lack of confidence and possibly a reduced quality of life.

A fall is determined as “unexpected event in which the participant comes to a rest on the ground, floor or lower level”.
